The project relies on openly licensed materials, so the information can be checked and reused. Below we have gathered the most important data sources and the rules for how they are treated.

Map data
The base map is provided by OpenStreetMap and CARTO under their licences. Historical border layers are indicative versions, until documented GeoJSON files under open licences are added. Some historical borders and birthplaces may be approximate.
